The cake was butter almond, covered in marshmallow fondant (MMF). Entirely edible.
The owl was also cake, covered in fondant. I used a 4-inch round pan, sliced off a piece from one side so it wouldn't roll away, then covered it with MMF. I found a similar owl on Pinterest and made a few adjustments.
